Jefferson Farm and Gardens     Jefferson Farm & Gardens has a variety of animals and attractions.  Jefferson Farm and Gardens is fun for the whole family!  The Farm is a great place to view mid-missouri crops and wild plants.

Many Missouri farms are quite an interesting combination of crops and livestock. The MFA Children's Barn features a number of common Missouri farm animals, including horses, sheep and goats.

Barn Details

The barn houses the animals when they are not grazing in the pasture, primarily during winter months, spring birthing and weaning time. A hayloft store bales for winter feeding.

During visiting hours, Jefferson Institute staff will be available in the barn to supervise interaction with the animals and answer questions.

Future informational exhibits will cover topics such as:

• Animal nutrition and food sources
• Livestock breeds used in the U.S.
• Grazing management systems
• Uses of farm animals

About MFA

Nearly 50 years ago, both Columbia-based firms MFA Incorporated and MFA Oil Company established MFA Foundation.  The companies' gift will be used toward the cost of construction of the MFA Children’s Barn at Jefferson Farm & Gardens.

“We are sincerely grateful to MFA and its foundations for helping to make this integral component of the Jefferson Farm & Gardens project possible,” said Rob Myers, executive director of the Jefferson Institute.

Both Jerry Taylor, President of MFA Oil Company and Don Copenhaver, President & CEO of MFA Incorporated offered these comments: “The Board of Trustees of the MFA Foundation is proud to play a role in establishing this new educational facility. Furthering education is the primary mission of our Foundation. The MFA Foundation will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. Over those 50 years the MFA Foundation has provided over $10 million in scholarships to nearly 10,000 graduating high school seniors. The Foundation currently provides over 300 scholarships annually through out our market area to high school seniors in the amount of $2,000 each. The Jefferson Farm & Gardens, with its focus on education and agriculture, fits well within the scope of the MFA Foundation.”
