2008 Preview Season

We welcome visitors to preview Jefferson Farm & Gardens before it opens in Spring 2009! 

  • Take a wagon tour around the farm
  • Visit the MFA Children’s Barn to see a variety of farm animals
  • Head down to the lake to admire blooming aquatic plants from the zig zag boardwalk and island.
  • Tour the orchard, berries and native wildflower meadow.
  • Chat with experts on agriculture, gardening and conservation.
  • Learn about membership options and benefits.

Open House Schedule

Our open houses take place on Saturdays and are free events. Jefferson Farm & Gardens is located at 4800 New Haven Road, one mile east of the AC/Grindstone Exit off Highway 63.

July 19
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Enjoy our blooming Daylily Walk and see over 200 varieties of vegetables, herbs and specialty crops in our Jefferson Garden.

August 2
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Learn about crops grown in the Midwest! Kids can catch bugs in the wildflower meadow and help us conduct a butterfly census. See tractors and other farm equipment appropriate for managing small acreages.

August 30
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Get outside as a family on Labor Day weekend! We will offer a variety of family-friendly activities related to farming, gardening and conservation. Chat with Jim Whitley, a noted expert on Missouri aquatic plants.

South Farm Showcase

September 27
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As a part of MU’s South Farm Showcase, Jefferson Farm & Gardens will serve as a “stop” on the wagon tour of South Farm.   While you are here, view our plans for final construction of Jefferson Farm & Gardens and future educational programming.
